Silver Guard token

My first try at Silver Guard. It became pretty, but propably too big to be practical. I like the dragon though, those silver details make it look so professional.

I just would like to point out again:
Every participant can do as many patches as she/he likes - but please do every coat of arms only one time per participant!
A coat of arms of a Principality, Barony, Shire,... can be done more than one time if it's not done by the same participant - for example: 4 members of XY can do 4 XY patches and also 4 patches of Z and 2 patches of Y - as long as every member just does 1 XY, Z or Y patch!

1st Guild Project - "Coat of Arms Wallhanging for Drachenwald"

- Fabric: linen fabric
- Fabric size:
-> Shires, Cantons & Strongholds: 10,0 x 10,0 cm (3,94 x 3,94 inch) + ca. 1,5 cm (0,59 inch) Surplus for sewing
-> Kingdom, Principality, Barony coat of arms: 20,0 x 20,0 cm + ca. 1,5 cm (0,59 inch) Surplus for sewing
- Fabric color: every color allowed
- Embroidery: every technique allowed
- Important restrictions:
-> Only coat of arms of Drachenwald groups...
-> Every person can make several patches but every coat of arms only one time!
(...to avoid a wallhanging only consisting of the coat of arms of three or four groups... but you can also embroider the coat of arms of your neighbor group or a group where your friends live...)

Dragon's Needle Embroidery Guild supports "Token Challenge" of Meisterinne Katheryn Hebenstreitz

Dear honourable Lords and Ladies,
gentle members of the "Dragon's Needle Embroidery Guild" and "-eMail Group"!

I am sure that all of us are aware that there is always a great need for helping hands, scrolls and tokens and the solution can be quite easy because help always starts with what YOU do and anyone of us actually does!

Concerning helping hands please ask the event steward or kitchen crew at your next event or just offer help if you see that help is needed,
concerning scrolls please feel free to contact your signet scribe (http://dragonscribes.blogspot.com/ - signet@drachenwald.sca.org) who offers help for anyone who would like to start with calligraphy and/or illumination and
concerning tokens - yes, that's a little bit more difficult and I am very happy to support & to forward the following challenge of Meisterinne Katheryn Hebenstreitz to you :)

But first I would like to thank all the helping hands that make our events so great and beautiful, the great artisans who create all the beautiful scrolls, tokens and gifts that make our dream more beautiful and create great moments of joy many of us will never forget... :)

Greetings embroiderers!

I have a small challange for you!
The Kingdom is in a dire need of award tokens. And now, please don't stop reading!

It is never nice to get an award and then never recieve the token to proove that you were once made a member of a certain order.
While taking us up on this challange you will make some of your friends and perhaps family very happy the day they recieve some recognition.

The trickiest one to get tokens for seems to be the Silver Guard. This award is suposed to come with a bracelet with the order symbol on.
But what if we make white linnen ties with the symbol embroidered on that the fighters can tie arround their upper arm?
I presented this idea to the Queen who got very excited and also promised a prize for the embroiderer that makes a tie with as many period stitches as possible while making it!
There is a crosstitch pattern avaliable for the dragon itself that can be easily adapted to hold the sword if anyone wants to do a later period kind of dragon. Let me know if you want that charter and I will send it to you!
Once you have made your Silver Guard or perhaps even Guards – let me know and I will find a suitable place to send them so that the King and Queen will be able to recieve them to pass them on to new members of the Order.
I hope that I will see many of theese embroidered Silver Guards around in a while!

Dragon's Needle Embroidery Guild - Summer Newsletter for June, July and August 2010

Dear honourable Lords and Ladies, gentle members of the "Dragon's Needle Embroidery Guild" and "-eMail Group"!

The summer sun finally is heating up the streets of our beautiful kingdom and it's getting rather hot throughout our kingdom - therefore I again write a "Summer Newsletter" for June, July and August - and you'll get your next newsletter in September.

18.-21. June (next week + Monday) I'll be not available - please allow me some more days for answering my eMails - I normally try to answer my mails in 3days after I get them (if you don't get an answer, than maybe my spam-filter deleted it - in this case please contact me by using the contact formular of my website: http://racaire.at/cms/contact.html.

Concerning our "Coat of Arms Wallhanging for Drachenwald" project - it's about halftime now and I already started to think about how to assemble the patches - there are several possiblities - first:
- 1a) one Wallhanging
- 1b) more than one Wallhanging
One Wallhanging would be rather nice but if I split the patches - by chance or by region - we could do more than one and divide them between the regions that the embroidered patches can be seen by more persons and can therefore also inspire more persons.
The second and surely the most important question: how shall the design of the Wallhanging look like - if you have an idea, please let me know about it or post about it in our "Dragon's Embroidery Workshop" http://dragonsembroiderers.blogspot.com/

I really would like to point out that Fru Renika has done an outstanding job concerning the "Coat of Arms Wallhanging for Drachenwald" project - only the coat of arms of two groups are not covered in her region - Uma & Viterheim - but I am quite optimistic that she also will find volunteers for this groups. I think it's really great that Shire Baggeholm and Shire Juneborg plan to make their patches by 'joint effort' - that sounds very interesting... :)

I am very happy to welcome ten new guild members since the last semi-annual report.

The first guild project "Coat of Arms Wallhanging for Drachenwald" successfully started during January and will last until about October, when the assembling of the coat of arms patches will start.
About 50% of all Drachenwald patches already found a volunteer and some patches are finished by now. Following group patches are still looking for volunteers:
