I have been honored by the graceful ladies Alenn von Horn and Johanna von Steinwedel by having been asked to contribute to their *napkin project* for the queen's guft basket. My name is Elisande Walters and I have asked to share my results. So far I have managed 6 napkins. the first five are broad chainstich in a number of materials.
MEZ black cotton twist, single strand on Linen cotton blend, Black Linen on Linen (the thread is not as easy to manipulate giving a rather *naive* look to that napkin (I'll still finish it, maybe somebody likes it) Black Linen on Cotton Linen Blend looks to my surprise a lot better. In the middle is Silk on Linen but the thread I used is clearly too thick for this kind of work, then the less bidable white Linen on Linen which I think turned out very fine even though the thread isn't really thinner than the Silken one. at the bottom I uses again a single thread of MEZ cotton twist, plus Mettlers metallic sewing thread. sorry for the white thread that came to ly on it while I took the pictures.

Those are fantastic! I like the sound of this project. What an inspiration to embroider napkins. I may have to try that sometime soon.
