Let´s work together

Remember Lady Sahra and her beautiful new hood (pictures send here at Sunday, 4 May 2008)? Here are some pictures about one of her last projects. This is a purse made for her 14^th century wedding dress. The model is from V&A Museum’s book about their textile collection, embroidery in Britain from 1200 to 1750. The model is a detail of the embroidered mittens from late 16^th century or early 17^th century. The model was chosen because it looked so nice and it looked like it can be made by silk and bead embroidery. I have helped her little bit with the outlines.

Jahanarabanu said...: This is gorgeous. Do you know where she got the silk, it is beautiful and obviously very well suited for embroidery. I find it difficult to get silks that stand up well to embroidery on wool.

I bougt the the silk from a re-enactor, who has herited a huge sack of silks! They come from an old shop and there are quite many nice colours.
The dark green is from the shop called Vuorelma, it sells materials for old finnish "national dresses"?. No idea what that´s in english :)
I bought all they had, but mys friend has plenty for sale.
